Cinnamon Sugar Almonds

Cinnamon Sugar Almonds

Seriously, this is heaven. These just scream Fall for me. 4 ingredients and roughly 10 minutes for something that tastes great on anything or just by the handful!

    Ingredients:

3 cups Natural Whole Almonds (No sweeteners no salts nothing)
   1/4 cup Water
1/2 Tablespoon Cinnamon. (This is a good start, I use a bit more when there are done)
   1 cup White Sugar

     Directions:

Add water, sugar, and cinnamon in a skillet or pot. Simmer on medium heat until sugar is dissolved. Add in almonds. Stir until  almonds are coated and syrup mixture is almost gone. Dump the whole thing on to WAXED or PARCHMENT paper. Let cool. Chunk it all up and put in an airtight container to store.  I add a sprinkling of salt to it, this actually brings the flavors out more. Do not add more than a teaspoon of salt.

Stromboli/Calzone

Some might argue that this is less of a Stromboli and more of a Calzone. It is made with a refrigerated pizza dough instead of bread dough. Main difference that I can see between the two mouthwatering "sandwiches" is the casing and the lack of sauce.

Calzones are typically stuffed with meat and cheese folded over with a pizza dough, sauce on the side.

Stromboli, filled with meat and cheese and a sauce wrapped up in a bread dough. Think Italian burrito.

My version mixes the two of them in a marriage that makes the tummy happy. With this strom-zone, (can I call it a strom-zone?) it combines all the yummy stuff and is practically fool-proof.

   What You Will Need:

1 can of refrigerated pizza dough (I use the cheap stuff. Its what's on the inside that counts!)
    1/2 pound sandwich pepperoni
1/2 pound salami (I use the hard so it doesn't get too mushy)
1/2 pound thinly sliced ham (avoid sweetened ie. Honey Ham)
    1/4 pound provolone cheese
1 cup of shredded mozzarella cheese
1 cup of hot peppers and onions in a tomato sauce

   Instructions:
   Preheat oven to 375*
Roll out that pizza dough, about a quarter of an inch thick. You don't want it too thick but you don't want it paper thin!
Lay out the pepperoni, salami, and ham. Do it in layers, make a pattern, go crazy!
   Apply your cheeses.
Roll it all up. start at the end and roll it up, fold it over itself. Once you get it all together fold up those ends like you are wrapping a present. You don't want all your groceries to fall out while baking.
Now grab your egg wash. (All egg wash is, is water and an egg scrambled up together in a little bowl.) Brush the strom-zone (kind of like that name) with the egg wash. This will give it that perfect golden brown color. Take a sharp knife and make three slits in the top of it. I like to get fancy and do it at an angle. This keeps the Stromboli from having a complete Mount Vesuvius effect in the oven. (Holy clean up batman!)

Bake your strom-zone in the oven for 45-50 minutes.

Let cool for 5 minutes. Letting the insides rest and steam out. Slice up and serve with pizza sauce or enjoy plain!
